The client

Matero

Matero sells yerba mate, the loose leaf drink brewed in a gourd and sipped through a metal straw. The content has two jobs at once, showing the pouch and explaining the ritual that goes with it.

  1. 01How they came inA product nobody can picture is a harder brief than a product nobody likes. A photograph of a pouch tells you nothing if you have never seen a gourd, a bombilla and someone actually drinking from one.
  2. 02What we took onThe photography and the campaign design. Eighteen photographs, three campaign pieces and seven behind the scenes clips.
  3. 03How it runsThree registers. Product-in-place shots that put the gourd, the straw and the pouch in one frame on sand or on a desk. Lifestyle frames with the drink in hand out in the day. And flat illustrated tiles, yellow and hand-drawn, for the posts that are carrying an idea rather than a picture, like the world's best kept secret is a drink.
  4. 04Where it standsEighteen photographs and three campaign pieces are shown here, with seven behind the scenes clips from the shoot days.

Eighteen frames built around the ritual. The gourd, the bombilla and the pouch together in one shot, on sand, on a desk and in hand, so a first-time viewer can see how the drink actually works.

Questions

Asked about this work

What is yerba mate here?

A loose leaf drink brewed in a gourd and sipped through a metal straw. Matero sells it in pouches, and the photography shows the gourd and the straw alongside so the ritual is legible.

What did MarketinCrew produce?

Photography and campaign design for social, plus behind the scenes footage from the shoot days.

Why the illustrated posts?

Some posts carry an idea rather than a product. A flat drawn tile lets a line land on its own without competing with a photograph.
