The client

Speedage

Speedage is a toys and games brand. The range we shot runs from stacking rings, drums and squeeze toys to abacus and alphabet learning kits, doll sets, toy vehicles and money banks.

  1. 01How they came inA wide toy catalogue with two buyers to convince at once, the child who wants it and the parent who pays.
  2. 02What we took onProduct and lifestyle photography plus the feed design that holds it together.
  3. 03How it runsTwo lanes run side by side. Clean product frames on plain grounds for the catalogue posts, and children actually playing with the toys at home for the lifestyle ones. Every frame sits inside a hand-drawn toy doodle border so the grid reads as one brand.
  4. 04Where it standsEight photographs, one campaign layout and two behind the scenes clips are on this page. The account runs as @speedagetoys.

One frame for the child, one for the parent. The doodle border is what makes them look like the same brand.

Questions

Asked about this work

Why the doodle border?

It ties a very mixed catalogue together. Product cutouts and messy home shots look like one brand once the frame is shared.

Are the children models?

They are shot at play rather than posed, which is what makes the lifestyle frames usable.

Does the work cover learning products too?

Yes. Abacus and alphabet kits are treated as their own posts, written for the parent rather than the child.
