The client

The Candle Affair

The Candle Affair makes scented candles in glass and cut glass vessels, finished with wooden lids, tassels and hand tied gift tags. The range is sold as much for gifting as for personal use.

  1. 01How they came inCandles are hard to photograph. The product is small, the surface is glass, and a flat catalogue shot tells a buyer nothing about what the room feels like once it is lit.
  2. 02What we took onA full product shoot, twenty one frames covering the range, the packaging and the product in use.
  3. 03How it runsTwo setups. Dark, controlled frames on marble and black with baby's breath and haze, which suit the cut glass and the tassels, and warm lifestyle frames at home, on a side table next to a book and a lamp. The gift tags and wooden lids are shot as part of the product rather than as an afterthought.
  4. 04Where it standsOne shoot covering catalogue, feed and gifting content, so the same set feeds a product page and a festive campaign.
