Facing East: work by MarketinCrew
Facing East
Facing East serves Asian food in a room of cane chairs, patterned tile, brass lamps and dark wood. We shoot the food and the interiors, run the social media and design the printed menus.
- 01How they came inFor social media and photography, on a restaurant whose room is as much of a draw as the menu.
- 02What we took onFood and interior photography, the social feed, the campaign artwork and the printed menus.
- 03How it runsThe interiors carry the mood and the food carries the appetite. Both are shot in the restaurant's own warm light rather than on a set, so what is posted matches what is walked into.
- 04Where it standsSixteen assets published across campaign, social, print and photography.
Campaigns and posters
One campaign piece built on the room rather than a dish. A long marble table laid for a group, cane chairs down one side, and a single short line set at the top.
Print and packaging
Three printed menus, including the group booking set menu. Course by course, with the minimum party size, the days it applies, the service charge and the reservation numbers all stated on the sheet.
Photography
Six frames of food and interiors, shot in the restaurant's own light so the tile, the cane and the brass carry the atmosphere instead of being flattened out.

Asked about this work
What do you do for Facing East?
Social media and photography, plus the campaign artwork and printed menus.
Why photograph the interiors so heavily?
Because the room is a large part of the reason people book. A dish alone does not explain the place.
What is the group booking menu?
A printed set menu for larger tables, with the courses, the minimum party size and the conditions all laid out so nothing has to be negotiated at the door.

Social media design
Six posts. Interiors lit warm and low with short lines set over them, aimed at the person deciding where to go after work rather than the person browsing a menu.
