Microdose

MicroDose Coffee is a cafe with a pink dining room and a menu that runs from filter coffee and croissants through to pizzas, sliders and sandwiches. It posts at microdose_coffee.

  1. 01How they came inThe room is pink and the crockery is pink, which is either the strongest asset a cafe feed can have or the fastest way to make every post look the same.
  2. 02What we took onThe photography and the social programme. Twenty three photographs, one campaign piece and four behind the scenes clips.
  3. 03How it runsWe use the pink as the ground, not the subject. Croissants and rose lattes shot from above on the cafe's own plates. Pizzas and sandwiches shot in hand, held out to camera, so there is a person in the frame. Street footage of people trying the menu gives the feed something that is not a plate.
  4. 04Where it standsTwenty three photographs and one campaign piece are shown here, with four behind the scenes clips from the shoot days.

Questions

Asked about this work

What did MarketinCrew produce for MicroDose?

Food photography, the social programme and video, including street footage of people trying the menu.

Is everything shot at the cafe?

The food is, on the cafe's own pink plates and tables. The street footage was shot outside, with real people rather than models.

How is the feed kept from looking repetitive?

By changing the distance rather than the colour. Top-down plates, in-hand crops and footage with people in it, all on the same pink ground.
