Tiam Falafel

Tiam Falafel is a Middle Eastern kitchen built around falafel. It goes out three ways in the artwork: as a grilled pita plate with hummus, muhammara, tabbouleh and pickled beetroot, as a stacked salad bowl, and as a rolled wrap. A lot of it is packed to travel, so the container is part of how the food is shown.

  1. 01How they came inA falafel kitchen with good food and no consistent way of showing it. Plates, wraps and bowls all needed to look like they came from the same place.
  2. 02What we took onSocial content design. We set a look first: mustard yellow ground, heavy condensed display type, a script accent for the punchline, and hand-drawn line illustrations laid over the food.
  3. 03How it runsTwo treatments run side by side. Cut-out food on flat yellow for the graphic posts, and close, warm, shallow-depth shots when the food should just look good on its own.
  4. 04Where it standsThe set covers the plate, the bowl and the wrap, which is most of what the kitchen sells. New menu items drop into either treatment without a redesign.
The work

Social media design

Six posts covering the falafel plate, the bowl and the wrap. The graphic ones cut the food out onto flat yellow with line illustration over the top, and the photographic ones stay close and warm with the type kept clear of the plate.

Questions

Asked about this work

What did MarketinCrew do for Tiam Falafel?

Social content: the design system and the posts, built around the falafel plate, the bowl and the wrap.

Was the food shot for this?

The posts use close food photography as well as cut-out food on flat colour. Both treatments run off the same menu.

Can the look take new menu items?

Yes. A new dish drops into either the cut-out treatment or the photographic one without changing the type or the palette.
